Omar’s Here to Stay

One of the commenters (Chocolate Superstar) asked if I could post some Omar tracks and I am gladly obliging. For those of you who are not familiar with this cat,he’s a British dude who is multi-talented. He has been dubbed the Father of Nu British Soul. He’s actually a classically trained individual. Its somewhat evident in some of his music. He is a guy who is not afraid to incorporate such instruments as an Oboe or French Horn or what have you. I CAN DIG IT!!!!!!
I’ve been on this cat since about ‘96. He is definitely one of favorite artists.
Chocolate Superstar also asked where is the best place to pick up some of his music. For me, since I am in Atlanta, I would more than likely go on down to Mood’s Music and holla at my man Darryl. He got the mad imports and obscurities.
Mind you this music is 12 YEARS OLD. Good music don’t age!!!

Eccentric1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for adding some Omar on here! I think I’ve played that “Golden Brown” one too many times. My neighbors must be annoyed by now.
Omar just has so much soul he makes me wish I played an instrument. I feel truly inspired.
Thanks again…keep it coming.
Do you know what album “Golden Brown” is off of?
Thanks,
Chocolate Superstar

I was introduced to Omar, back in ‘99. I’ve been hooked ever since. The last time I saw him live was in the ATL where he opened for someone at the the Tabernacle. I don’t have all the albums, but my favorite is “Best By Far”.

If you like Omar, you will like Jessie Boykins III and Eric Roberson….these two cats are from the U.S. but they are highly overlooked. They are talent at its best. You tube Jessie Boykins, god he’s amazing. He made love to me via youtube…..ummmmh… check it out….

Yeah I’m up on Eric Roberson, that cat is amazing!!! I would definitely like to hear some of Jessie Boykins’ work. What are your favorite tracks of his?

Denise, I applaud you, you have turned me on to 2 new cats I never before in just 2 comments. Please keep it up!!! If you have any links for Peter Hadar, can you please put it in a comment? I would like that.

Hey eccentric, “youtube” Hadar and you’ll get the results….funky look’in cat… I don’t think I have Omar’s Cd music. I had a friend who travelled and always burned music while he was in London and other parts of Europe, so “ashamedly” I’ve only bought 1 or 2 Omar Cd’s, the rest of the songs are compilations that were put together for me. My favorite Jesse boykins is called “What..” of course the title is much longer, but I spend most of my time being mesmorized by his voice. Again “youtube” him and watch him perform live. I’m not that tech savvy so I don’t know how to post links(cut and paste I can do!)….send me the dummy version and I’ll start doing it!

Wow, I love this. Eccentric1,I hate that we never talked music back in the dorms way back when . I can’t believe you’ve been sitting on good stuff like this since the “good ol’ days”! I need to post some stuff or get you to do it for me. Please let me know how.

Hey Denise…
ERic Roberson let me get on stage with him in Cleveland last year. I convinced him to let me start off “Couldn’t Hear Me” off “The Vault.” He looked wary until I started singing. I was with my girls from The Lion King tour. He was suepr cool and it was a great show! I’ve been a long time fan of his. I will check out some of the other folks you mentioned!
Peace.

I know VonRay, I think about that too. Who knows what our musical tastebuds would be like now, if we had hooked up musically then. As far as putting up some music, all you have to do is copy the web address of the site where the song/track is and paste it at the bottom of your comment.
